Your Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know about working with Alasdair McIntosh to photograph your holiday let.

  • Who is Alasdair McIntosh and why should I hire him to photograph my holiday cottage?

I'm a York-based professional photographer with over 15 years' experience specialising in architectural, interior and landscape photography. I work regularly with holiday let owners across Yorkshire and beyond, combining a meticulous eye for detail with a genuine passion for beautiful spaces. My images don't just document a property - they make people want to stay there.

  • What areas do you cover for holiday cottage photography?

I'm based in York and cover holiday let photography throughout Yorkshire and the wider North of England and I'm available for shoots further afield too. Yorkshire is home to some fantastic holiday cottage locations, from the Dales and Moors to the coast, and I know exactly how to make the most of those settings.

  • What does a holiday cottage photoshoot with you include?

Every shoot is tailored to the property, but typically I'll cover all key interior spaces - living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms - as well as outdoor areas, gardens, and the surrounding landscape. I also offer drone photography and video production, which can be a fantastic way to showcase a cottage's setting and set your listing apart.

  • Do you offer drone photography for holiday lets?

Yes, drone photography is one of my specialisms and a brilliant addition to any holiday cottage shoot. Aerial images give potential guests a real sense of a property's location in a way ground-level photography simply can't match. All drone work is fully insured and CAA-compliant.

  • Can you also produce video for my holiday cottage?

Absolutely. I offer creative video production alongside photography, and a short property film can be a genuinely powerful marketing tool - for your website, social media, or listing platforms. Video and stills can be captured in the same visit to keep things efficient.

  • How do you approach shooting a holiday cottage interior?

I bring the same care to holiday let photography as I do to luxury interior and architectural work; careful attention to light, composition, and the small details that make a property feel special. I'm always happy to suggest simple styling tweaks on the day that make a real difference to the final images.

  • How long will the photoshoot take?

Most holiday cottage shoots take upwards of three hours for a small property. If you're adding drone and video, I'd typically allow a day. I'll give you a clear time estimate once I know a bit more about the property.

  • When will I receive my photos?

You'll usually receive your fully edited, high-resolution images within 3–5 working days, web-optimised files ready for your listings and full-resolution versions for print and marketing materials.

  • Can I use the photos on Airbnb, Sykes, Vrbo and other platforms?

Yes, all delivered images are licensed for use across your own website and any listing platforms, including Airbnb, Vrbo, Sykes Cottages, and Booking.com, as well as social media and any other marketing materials.

  • How much does holiday cottage photography cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the property and the services you'd like - photography only, with drone, or a full photography and video package. I'd rather give you an accurate quote, so please get in touch and I'll put something together for you.

  • How do I book a holiday cottage photoshoot?

Simply head to my contact page or drop me an email. I'll have a chat about the property, what you're hoping to achieve, and suggest the best approach. I work on shoots of all sizes and pride myself on making the whole process straightforward and enjoyable.
