Hospitality & Commercial
Yorkshire Hospitality Photographer
Photographing and working with hotels, resorts, restaurants, cafés, bars and event spaces. This sector allows me to use all my skills in a way that I don’t often get a chance to in other sectors. Immaculately photographed bedrooms and public spaces, carefully lit to create warm, natural looking spaces draws on my interior photography experience. Lifestyle images of materials, furnishings, models and experiences help create atmosphere and personality. Beautifully lit shots of food, chefs and staff create that individual and boutique feel. Combined with exterior shots (including drone), travel and location images I have the skills and experience to create a large and varied bank of photography for you to use.
As a Yorkshire hospitality photographer my photography is not just there to inform. I want to get across the feel and atmosphere of spaces – after all guests don’t just book rooms or tables they book the whole experience of a place. If you are looking for a York commercial photographer, take a look at the images below to get an idea of the style of my work.

Your Questions, Answered
Everything you need to know about working with Alasdair McIntosh to photograph your hotel, restaurant, bar or commercial space.
Who is Alasdair McIntosh and what experience does he have in hospitality and commercial photography?
I'm a York-based photographer with over 15 years' professional experience, specialising in architectural, interior and commercial photography. I work with hotels, restaurants, bars, B&Bs, leisure venues, offices, retail spaces and commercial clients across Yorkshire and beyond, including luxury boutique hotels right here in York. My background means I understand light, space and styling, and know how to make any venue or commercial space look its very best.
What types of venues and businesses do you photograph?
I work across the full range of hospitality and commercial spaces. On the hospitality side that includes hotels and boutique accommodation, restaurants and bars, cafes, leisure centres, spas, museums and galleries. For commercial clients I photograph offices, retail environments, showrooms, installations and workplaces of all kinds. Whether you need images for a rebrand, a room refresh, a new product launch or a company website, I can help.
What does a hospitality or commercial photoshoot typically include?
Every shoot is tailored to the client's needs. For hotels, that usually means bedrooms and suites, public areas such as lobbies, lounges and restaurants, exterior and facade shots, and detail images that convey the atmosphere of the property. For restaurants and bars I focus on the dining environment, bar areas, food and drink styling, and the details that make the experience unique. For commercial clients the brief varies widely, and I'm always happy to discuss the best approach for your business.
How do you approach styling for hospitality and commercial photography?
Styling is a really important part of this kind of work. There is a careful balance between perfection and authenticity. I want images that look inviting and real, not like a CGI render. On a hotel bedroom shoot, that might mean using a handful of crocodile clips to hold curtains and bedding perfectly in place without it looking forced. For commercial spaces, I work to present the environment in a way that reflects the brand and culture of the business. I'll guide the styling throughout the shoot to make sure every image feels considered.
Can you work around our guests, customers and opening hours?
Yes, absolutely. I'm used to working within operational constraints. For hotel shoots, I often work within the normal room turnaround window to minimise disruption to bookings. For restaurants and bars, I can schedule around service times, whether that's early mornings, between lunch and dinner, or on closed days. For commercial clients I can work out of hours or around your staff and customers. I'll plan everything carefully in advance so the shoot runs smoothly.
Do you offer drone and video alongside your photography?
Yes. Drone photography can be a fantastic addition for hotels, commercial premises or businesses with impressive architecture, grounds or a great location. I also offer creative video production, which is increasingly important for websites, social media and marketing. Stills, drone and video can all be captured in a single visit.
Where do you work? Do you cover areas outside Yorkshire?
I'm based in York and regularly work across Yorkshire, in York, Leeds, Harrogate, Malton, Sheffield and beyond. I also travel further afield for the right projects, so if you're outside the region please do still get in touch.
How long does a shoot take?
It depends on the scope. A restaurant, bar or commercial space shoot might take half a day, while a full hotel shoot across multiple room types and public areas would typically require a full day or more, sometimes split across two days to work around room availability. I'll give you a clear schedule before we start.
When will I receive the finished images?
Fully edited, high-resolution images are typically delivered within 1 to 2 weeks via a private online gallery. If you have a deadline, expedited turnaround is available, so just mention it at the time of booking and I'll do my best to accommodate you. You'll receive web-optimised files for your website and booking platforms, plus full-resolution versions for print, PR and marketing materials.
What can I use the images for?
All delivered images are licensed for use across your own website, social media, booking platforms such as Booking.com and Expedia, print brochures, PR, and any other marketing materials. If you have specific licensing requirements, just let me know and we can discuss.
How much does hospitality and commercial photography cost?
Pricing varies depending on the size of the venue or space, what needs to be covered, and whether you're adding drone or video. I'd rather provide an accurate quote based on your specific needs, so please get in touch and I'll put a proposal together for you.
How do I book a shoot?
Head to my contact page or drop me an email. I'll have a conversation about your venue or business, what you're looking to achieve, and suggest the best approach. I'm also happy to visit in advance of the shoot to plan everything properly, which makes a real difference to the final results.
