Peak District Holiday Cottage Photographer

Dusk shot of a remote isolated holiday cottage in the peak district at night or dusk

I was fortunate enough to photograph this secluded holiday cottage in the Peak District in Autumn last year, so I thought I would share with you some of my favourite interiors and landscape photographs from the shoot.

Holiday cottages / holiday homes are among my favourite subjects. Add in a beautiful setting such as this one, nestled in the hills of the Peak District and it makes them even better. I began with a very early start from York, the weather forecast was looking favourable for some decent light at sunrise so I wanted to make sure I could get to the area before then to capture some location shots before heading on to photograph the holiday cottage.

Driving through Derbyshire in the pre-dawn light made me excited for the unfolding conditions – living in York does make me miss hills!

On this day as a Peak District holiday cottage photographer, I was focusing my energy on creating a set of images that not just enticed potential holiday makers to stay in this property but to cement the Peak District and Derbyshire as their chosen travel destination. As we all know from booking holidays for ourselves the destination / holiday cottage balance is not an exact science and you can sometimes choose a different location to travel to for a particular property. Likewise, sometimes an area has such a strong draw that you are prepared to sacrifice on the holiday cottage itself. No compromises were necessary here fortunately with both the location and holiday cottage punching strongly and offering up heaps of potential for me to get beautiful photography of the holiday cottage and the area.

After

Fortunately, the property was beautifully dressed, this client knows the importance of staging holiday cottages for photography and that leaves me free to concentrate on getting beautiful photography of the holiday cottage. The clear skies from sunrise rapidly disappeared but I am able to light properties using my flashes to make the rooms look bright and sunny while also preserving the feel and atmosphere of the holiday cottage. Below is a small gallery of some of my favourite photographs from this Peak District holiday cottage. If you’d like to see more then take a look at the listing here
